LATINOAMERICANO | Modern and Contemporary Art from the Malba and Eduardo F. Costantini Collections presents a compelling overview of Latin America’s artistic production from 1900 to the present through over 170 artworks drawn from the collections of the Museum of Latin American Art Buenos Aires (Malba) and its founder, Eduardo F. Costantini. Featuring paintings, photographs, films, sculptures, installations, textiles, and elements of popular culture, the exhibition captures the continent’s creative evolution while reexamining its art within critical and regional art historical frameworks.
Rather than following a chronological or geographical order, the exhibition is organised into six thematic sections. These explore Latin America’s shared natural landscapes, plural identities, urban development, moments of societal change, and the processes of artistic emancipation that have emerged over time. This structure invites visitors to reflect on the key ideas, debates, and preoccupations that have shaped the region’s modern and contemporary art.
By synthesising the connections between regional movements while preserving their distinct characteristics, the exhibition highlights diverse thematic, formal, material, and conceptual approaches across the continent.
The exhibition is curated by María Amalia García and Issa Al Shirawi.
