Rediscovering Palm Island: Virtual Watercolor Course

Rediscovering Palm Island: Virtual Watercolor Course

Adult, Beginners

The view of a lone acacia tree on Palm Island, surrounded by the crystal blue waters off the Corniche in Doha, is the inspiration for this watercolor adventure.

Starting 6th July, this 7-week virtual watercolor course explores all aspects of watercolor painting. Details that every beginner needs to know including paper choices, properly using one brush for a variety of techniques, color choices, and professional style journal entries.

Participants will complete a contemporary watercolor painting inspired by Qatar’s Palm Island along with color cards, and 3 small paintings highlighting their newfound skill. A course kit will be delivered to all participants from Cass Art.

About the Artist

D A Klatt is an American visual artist from San Francisco who incorporates traditional methods and materials in her paintings to reflect the aesthetics and evolution of the global community.

The incorporation of traditional Islamic elements within her contemporary paintings expresses a refreshing sense of duality. The artist believes a vibrancy of color, the subtle use of gold leaf, and detailed geometrical elements produce an unexpected equilibrium within her work that seeks to engage the viewer.
