Visitor Guidelines

Welcome to the National Museum of Qatar! Please read through these practical tips to help you make the most of your visit.

Tickets

  • Tickets are available upon arrival, but you may also reserve tickets in advance to select your preferred time slot.
  • Tickets are valid for a single entry on the admission date only and may not be refunded or exchanged.
  • General admission tickets include entry to temporary exhibitions and the permanent collection galleries.
  • School groups should visit our School Tours page for more information about self-guided and guided tours.
  • Groups of 25 or more visitors should email rsubeh@qm.org.qa in advance to reserve a block of tickets.
  • Please note that last entry to the museum is 45 minutes before closing time. See Museum Hours
  • Visitor Services staff will begin clearing the galleries 45 minutes before the museum closes to ensure that all visitors exit on time.

Guided Tours

  • We offer a variety of guided public tours in English and Arabic on a regular basis. Check What’s On for the most updated information.
  • Tour operators and organisers of private tours should contact rsubeh@qm.org.qa to arrange visits for their groups.
  • Information about self-guided, guided and virtual tours for school groups is available on our School Tours page.

Dress Code

  • Out of respect for local culture, please dress modestly. Shoulders and knees should be covered.
  • A limited number of abayas and shaylas are available to borrow during your visit.
  • Entrance may be refused if your clothing is deemed unsuitable.

Safety and Security

  • All visitors must pass through a security check, and the museum reserves the right to inspect any bags brought onto the premises.
  • Small bags are permitted, but large bags must be stored in the Cloakroom.
  • The museum is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
  • Follow staff instructions for restricted or prohibited items. Check the list of restricted and prohibited items.
  • Museum staff will regulate the number of visitors in the museum and gallery spaces. Please respect the instructions of museum staff.
  • First aid is available onsite at the museum. Please alert museum staff if you require immediate assistance.

Protect the Collection

  • Please do not touch the collection objects on display.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the galleries.
  • Coloured pencils, ink pens and markers are not allowed in the galleries.

Respect Others

  • Please show respect to others and avoid disruptive behaviour.
  • Set your phone to vibrate and take calls outside the galleries.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Photography

  • Unless otherwise noted, photography of special exhibitions, loaned objects or objects in the permanent collection is allowed for personal, non-commercial use using available light.
  • Tripods, selfie sticks and flash photography are not permitted.
  • For press inquiries, please email pressoffice@qm.org.qa. For photography or filming requests, please submit a Filming Request Form at least two weeks prior to the date you wish to film.

Amenities

  • Restrooms are available throughout the museum including by the Cloakroom, Gift Shop, Library, all cafés and restaurants, Temporary Galleries and inside the Permanent Galleries in Gallery 2, 6, 9 and 12. Outside there are restrooms in both the north and south kiosks. Changing tables are available inside ladies' restrooms.
  • Prayer Rooms are available by the Gift Shop and in the north and south kiosks.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available in the museum.
  • The museum offers a variety of food and beverage options.
  • Our on-site Gift Shop offers a vast array of exclusively designed products inspired by the National Museum of Qatar and its collection and exhibitions.
