Thematic Guided Tours

Grades: 1-12

Thematic tour topics:
  • Stories about the People of Qatar
    Students will explore the pillars that make up the social fabric of Qatar, with a focus on the individual and collective roles of family, community and leadership in society.
  • Treasures of the Sea
    This tour will shed light on the wonders of the sea and its historical significance in the collective memory of the people of Qatar, both as a source of sustenance and income.
  • Celebration of Our Nation
    This tour will highlight key moments of social, economic and political transformation in the historical timeline of Qatar that led to the formation of a resilient nation.

Discovery Programmes

Theme: Qatar Pearling Legacy

Embark on an art adventure through the museum galleries, where the journey unfolds with hands-on activities, making each moment a masterpiece of exploration and creativity.

Our school Discovery Programme runs from 9am to 12pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Grade: Kindergarten

Wonders of the Natural World
Explore the wonders of Qatar's natural world and heritage on this engaging tour designed for kindergartners! Children will discover native animals in their natural habitats and learn about the traditional way of life of the Qatari people in the past. This immersive experience blends nature and culture, sparking curiosity and appreciation for Qatar's rich history and environment.

Grades: 1-3

A Pearl of Wisdom: Exploring Qatar’s Pearling Heritage
After a 20-minute tour, students will explore Qatar’s rich pearling history, understand the challenges faced by pearl divers and appreciate the cultural significance of pearls. They will then engage in a creative, hands-on activity to design and craft their own pearl necklaces, deepening their connection to Qatar’s heritage.

Grades: 4-6

A Tapestry of Beads
After a 20-minute tour, students will understand the intricate artistry of the Baroda Carpet, knowing its colour palette, patterns, and cultural significance. Following this, they will engage in a hands-on workshop to design and create their own bead-and-foam-board mosaics, inspired by the carpet's motifs.

Grades: 7-9

Pearl Diving in Black and White
After a 20-minute introduction, students will understand Qatar’s pearl diving heritage, learning about its historical significance. They will then participate in a hands-on workshop to create expressive monochromatic artworks, including silhouettes of pearl divers, detailed dhow designs, and atmospheric underwater scenes, all crafted using black and white media.

Storytelling Programme

Let's explore a world full of fun and learning with the storytelling programme, designed for Kindergarten to Grade 4 students. The programme will be delivered in both Arabic and English and will take place in the programme area at the National Museum of Qatar.

Programme Details:

  • Book Title: To be determined upon request.
  • Duration: The programme runs for six months, from January to June 2025.
  • Schedule: Held every Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 12pm.

Writing Programme

Join us for My Story from the Museum, a creative short story writing programme designed for students in grades 5–12. Conducted in Arabic, this programme encourages young writers to draw inspiration from Qatar’s rich environment and heritage, exploring historical and archaeological collections to craft engaging children's stories.

Outreach Programmes: Bringing the Museum to Your Classroom

The National Museum of Qatar is extending its educational programmes beyond the museum’s walls. Our outreach initiative allows us to bring tailored educational experiences directly to your classrooms. On selected dates, our museum staff will visit your school to deliver interactive programmes that engage students with the museum’s rich collection and themes.

The schools outreach programme is available in Arabic and English for grades KG to Grade 8, features flexible scheduling for each group and will take place on:

18 and 25 Febrauary 2025
15 and 22 April 2025
13 and 27 May 2025
